Café Berea is a quaint coffee shop that sits on a small yet busy cobblestone street in the Colonial city of Arequipa, Peru. Here, there are offered a variety of coffees, juices, sandwiches, ice cream deserts, and what we indiscriminately believe are the best tasting cakes around. Along with the good taste is good fun, as we also have available the majority of the best table-top games ever invented, which can be enjoyed free of charge and without the obligation of buying anything, ever.

If that weren't enough, Café Berea is also a Christian library that offers over 200 book resources (all in Spanish) that can be used by the public free of charge and without obligation within the establishment. However, if one would like to take a book home there is a small daily fee.

Another aspect of the Library is what we call Club Berea. The privileges of this club are geared toward church leaders within the community. Membership allows them the use of a study hall containing more book resources, listening tapes and CD's, and a computer loaded with Bible software. Members can also take book resources home without charge.

Café Berea is actually a ministry that began in September of 2001 by my wife and I as our contact point to the Peruvian public, and was our first step towards planting a new church fellowship in the city. As we began making friends, we would invite them to our Wednesday night Bible study. This study has grown over the years to form what is now Iglesia Cristiana Refugio. It has been wonderful to watch this ministry grow steadily and, as a result, help others to grow in their personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
